Like I said you can’t stop everything from happening but you can sure try to minimize it. Be careful when moving rods around, always have a keen eye on where the rods are, especially the tips.
Fishing done right is tough on your gear, it will take abuse over and over again as it should in that situation, BUT moving around quickly with rods in your hands or ramming them into a storage compartment will definitely shorten the life of your gear.
At the end of the day “shit will happen”, rods will get scratched up, reels will get scratched up, baits will have bent hooks and open o rings, but trust me you feel a loot better about this after knowing you at least tried to prevent as much as you could !
