Fan casting allows you to cover water quickly with search baits like spinnerbaits and crankbaits. You can fan cast in a boat to cover the shoreline or from shore by walking around casting in a fan pattern style. Picture a clock in front of you as you look out at the lake, start casting towards your left at around 9 o’clock, then cast to 10 or 11 o’clock, then 12, then 1 and so on.
This is how I start off my fishing days, using some fast moving baits to cover a large patch of water in a short time. Truly is a great little technique/style of fishing that will cut down a lot of the guessing game, because you will one find the fish faster and two see what they are going to hit bait wise.
