This weeks AMFisH fishing vlog – don’t be stingy with soft plastics.

Hello AMFishers far and wide!   This weeks AMFisH fishing vlog is about not being stingy with soft plastic baits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=u0SLr41Sqdo

I have seen it time and time again, people spending time fussing around with a soft plastic bait that will not stay on the hook right any longer.  Simple solution “use a new one” from the package.

All soft plastics in one package have a different life span, one can catch you ten fish then start to get torn, a second can split wide open after just one catch, the third can be torn right off the line and into the water during an intense fight, so you see where I am going with this.

A soft plastic bait whether it be a worm, curly tail jig, lizard or creature bait will need to sit securely on a hook the second it is torn in a bad area by the head or tail end where the hook it tied to the line it is time to change it.  You will always want your soft plastic sitting nice and straight on the hooks, big holes in them or ones that are extremely torn up should be discarded.

For the cost of a few bags a year it is totally worth taking off a bad bait and using a new one from the package, in the end it will look right on the hook and will result in you catching fish you would have normally missed due to a bad presentation of that bait.

On a side note though you can salvage some of them, especially the worms, lizard and creature baits by simply cutting them in half and using them as trailer on spinnerbaits or flipping jigs.  As long as most of that half is intact and can be placed on the hook you can use them.

There is no need to spend money on extra flipping jig trailers as they are simply a creature style bait cut in half, so why not make your own an save some money for other baits!

Hope you found this video helpful, chat with all of you soon…
