We all started fishing from shore and I remember the struggle trying to figure out how to catch more fish, well fan casting is a great way to do just that.
Instead of casting in the same spot try walking around the lake while making long casts in a fan pattern. Picture a clock in front of you, first cast would be at 9 o’clock, second cast at ten o’clock, third cast at eleven o’clock and so on.
This is typically done with artificial baits BUT there is nothing stopping you from doing it with live bait, just spread the fan out a little more, example cast at 9 o’clock then at twelve o’clock and so on.
Fish are moving around which is why I say we should be moving around as well. By fan casting you are covering as much water as you can and in that specific area you are covering a huge patch at a time, which could increase your chances at catching a few more fish.
Give this style of fishing a try, I use it from my boat every time and I can assure you that you will start to locate more fish.
