When it comes t panfish fishing I am sure we can all agree it is flat out fun fishing! It does not cost a lot as the artificial baits used and live bait last the entire day and are priced right.
In this vlog I go over the slip bobber setup which is a fun way to start those kids off! Now this setup can be used for regular fishing as well, as I have caught quite a few bass in my day just using this simple little rig.
There is nothing quite like adding that element of sight to fishing, sitting there patiently waiting for that bobber to move then sink, full out excitement if you ask me!
This rig is pretty simple, it consists of a slip bobber, plastic bead, bobber stop, split shot weight and jighead with your live bait of soft plastic bait. Your bobber stop(see picture below) goes on first and it followed by your plastic bead which ends up sitting on top of the bobber holding it in place at the height you have set it up at. Your bobber is next then your split shot(if you are using only a hook, not needed with a jighead) or jighead with bait and that’s it you are ready to go!
Once you cast this out the slip bobber will hit the water and slip up towards the bobber stopper that is set at your specified height, with your bait dangling below. You can adjust how deep your bait is very easily by sliding the bobber stop up or down. Once you have made your cast your glue your eyes to that bobber and wait for the fish strikes. Important part here is not to react too quickly, it will bob up and down when fish are biting at the bait, BUT you need to wait for the entire bobber to be taken under water that is when you will want to set the hook.
All in all it’s a fun way to fish for anyone just starting out, a friend fishing with you who does not fish much and once again those little ones that will enjoy seeing the sinking bobber!
