Hi fellow AMFisHers! This weeks AMFisH fishing vlog is about swimbaits:
Swimbaits have been on the market for a few years now and many have been tweaked from what was available back then, as technology has assisted manufacturers in making very superior baits these days.
These baits are typically made of soft plastic material and are made to resemble baitfish/minnows. With some of them having very unique paddle tails that cause quite a realistic swimming acting, you can easily see why fish love them!
Swimbaits are quite versatile as you can fish them through various depths and styles, example being you can cast them into thicker weed cover and burn them back as surface baits. When rigged on a swimbait hook they are pretty weedless allowing for you to fish them around structure and cover where the real fish and minnows live.
On the flip side you can also jig them vertically in deeper water by casting them out and letting them sink to the bottom, then jigging it back up a few feet and letting it drop back down. Great bait with a lot of presentation options available for it and they catch fish!
There are a lot of makes and models on the market, available in various styles, colour patterns and sizes, which is great as you have options if you are a multispecies fisherman such as myself.
