I will be shooting another video on this topic where I do demonstrate how a bait gets free, unfortunately when I shot this video I started losing light quickly as you can see from the beautiful sunset behind me so instead of not shooting the vlog I figured I would do it anyway to at least share this technique with all of you!
It’s quite simple when your bait gets stuck either in some rocks or on a sunken tree/stump our instinct always turns to yanking on it with all our might to somehow free it, well the slingshot technique allows you to avoid all of that.
No need to yank back just close your spool pull the rod back until your rod is bent over and really tight, from here grab the line with your hand and dip the rod down to allow for some slack so you can pull the line to the side. About a foot of line will do, once you are holding the line pull the rod nice and tight again and when everything is set let go of the line you are holding and push the rod forward.
You may have to do this a couple of times but 9 out of 10 times it usually frees the bait, as the tight rod and line will travel all the way down to the stuck bait making the hooks and sometimes the bait shoot backwards popping the hooks free.
Trust me practice this and you will save yourself some money on losing baits by using this easy simple tip.
