Hello AMFisHers this weeks AMFisH fishing vlog is about those too good to be true fishing spots, they look great but you never catch a thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97_j1MXA350&feature=player_embedded
We have all been there we find a spot on the lakes we fish and say wow there must be lots of fish here, then after spending numerous hours and various fishing outings we quickly see that nothing is being caught there.
I call these the too good to be true spots and in this vlog I review an amazing spot on one of the lakes I fish, it a huge hump of rock structure surrounded by deeper water in every direction. Lot’s of weeds and cover, great rock structure and ambush points, quick and easy access to deeper water should the fish need to escape in a hurry yet I never caught anything substantial in this one spot.
I have seen a few small pan fish in the area and hooked into a couple of tiny ones BUT when you think a huge pike or musky will dart out one day it never happens.
This everyone is the “too good to be true” fishing spot, all the planets seem to be aligned with respect to that spot having lots of key things to make it a good spot BUT there is something off about it and fish never hold there.
This specific spot in this vlog even has what we as fishing people know very well, lots of birds of pray lying on the water in this area feeding on bait, yes there is always lots of bait there as well, but no fish to be found.
From time to time I will go back to this spot as structure can change over time from storms, maybe even new structure like sunken trees being brought into the area, BUT I don’t spend much time fishing spots like this there is really no point.
So think back to some of your outings where after a long while you always say but it looks so good the fish must not have been hungry today, it may not be that it may be the actual spot itself, so take it off your list.
Hope you found this vlog helpful!
