Hi fellow AMFisHers! This weeks AMFisH vlog is about tying the uni knot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZnXZ6jNwKs&feature=player_embedded
This is a great knot when it comes to tying two pieces of line together, as it is a very strong hold. The beauty of this knot is it is done by wrapping the line around the other line several times, this allows for the lines to play against one another instead of tying them through one another and potentially having one slice through the other.
When tying braided line to mono or fluorocarbon line the trick is to increase the diameter of the mono/fluorocarbon by almost double, yes double because braided line has no stretch and when it is pulled against mono is will end up cutting right through it the diameter of the mono is too small.
I have used this knot for several years without any issue at all, no cuts through my other line and the knot has never come loose.
Hope you found this vlog helpful.
