This is a picture of a chunky smallmouth bass that hit a huge jointed Rapala bait that is more commonly used for pike of musky fishing. I have blogged about small fish hitting big baits and big fish hitting small baits, well all I can say is when small fish are into a bigger style bait they absolutely “HAMMER” them !
In the end the fish will always dictate what size and look of bait they are into at that moment, so it is crucial to figure out what they are looking for by trying some different sizes, colours and presentations.
