Just sharing a really good fishing knot with all you amateur fishing people and kids out there !   It’s called the palomar knot and what a knot it is !   This picture shows the steps to tying this knot and I will also be doing some videos blogs on my website about tying knots, tips and that sort of stuff.

The beauty of this knot is that it is sooooooooooooo strong, very strong due to the line being doubled over and then threaded through the eye of the hook.  What this does is double the knot strength, what I mean by this is if you are using 10 pound test line you knot strength at the hook eye is actually 20 pound test.

I have used this knot since I was a kid and I can tell you that time and time again my actual line has snapped before the knot ever gave way.   The line will be pushed to the limits by the fish and elements BUT a really secure strong knot will rarely snap before the line does.

It is a fairly simple knot to tie as well, just keep in mine that when you are tying this knot directly to baits don’t skimp out on line and make the loop too small, you will only get your bait all tangled up not to mention your eyes confused trying to figure out which end to pull or even how to finish the knot.

Give yourself a good 7 to 10 inches of line to double fold and complete the knot, in the end I am confident you will appreciate the power of this fishing knot ! ! !
