Great Lure-Makers: Lou Eppinger
Created in 1906 Eppinger’s Dardevle is a red and white spoon named after the US Marine Brigade that won the Battle of Belleau Woods in World War I. Still manufactured in Detroit it is likely the most imitated lure in history although the knock-offs seldom have the sophisticated hammering (thin in the middle and thicker toward the edges) and impressive heft.
